10-08-2008: The Governor of Buenos Aires Province receives representatives of ENGINEERING 2010 - ARGENTINA

Daniel Scioli received representatives of the World Congress and Exhibition ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA, event which is part of the Bicentennial Celebrations.


LA PLATA – Yesterday, the Governor of Buenos Aires province, together with the Minister of Infrastructure received, in the Presidential House, representatives of the World Congress and Exhibition ENGINEERING 2010–ARGENTINA: “Technology, Innovation and Production for the Sustainable Development”. This event will take place between October 18thth and will be part of the celebrations for the Bicentennial of the Revolution of May 25th 1810. and October 20

The representatives received by the Governor Scioli and the Minister Arch. Cristina Alvarez Rodríguez were: Eng. Mario Telichevsky, President of the Central Executive Committee of the Congress ENGINEERING 2010; the vice-president, Eng. Mario Wiegers, Eng. Luis Di Benedetto, President of the Argentine Center of Engineers (CAI) and member of the Central Executive Committee of the Congress ENGINEERING 2010; and Ms. María Eva Argiz, Executive Manager of CAI and General Secretary of the Congress ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA.

 In turn Telichevsky pointed out the importance of the Congress and invited the Governor to participate in the Honor Committee of ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA. During the meeting the Governor was pleased with the invitation and at the same time he accepted it and committed his support with the initiative and stipulated the implementation of the declaration of interest for Buenos Aires Province, as well as for its legislative body.

ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA is organized by UADI and CAI, jointly with centers, colleges and institutions of engineering all over the country and is part of the core activities performed by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (FMOI) – that has 15 million members worldwide- with the support and participation of UNESCO, the Pan-American Union of Engineers (UPADI), among other world prestigious organizations.

It has been recently declared of national interest and it is a sign of the commitment of engineers and businesspeople to the efforts made worldwide in order to comply with the “Millennium Development Goals” proposed by the United Nations and which our country adhered to in 2003 aligned with the urgencies established by the World Summit of Johannesburg (2002).

TOPICS

The event will include ten simultaneous congresses, each of which will have the importance of a World Congress, and an International Production and Services Exhibition that will take place at the same time in the fair venue of La Rural.

The topics to be dealt with will be: Information and Communication for the knowledge society; Energy and climate change; Agro-alimentary and biotechnological industries; Infrastructure for equity development and social inclusion (water, transport, urban settlements); Engineering education for sustainable development; Women in engineering and business and the Professional practice of engineering.

Worldwide Launch

Worldwide launch of this event is foreseen to take place at the World Convention of Engineers that will be held in Brasilia next December and the preparatory national congresses that will be held in different cities of the country during 2009.
