Interview to Eng. Pablo Bereciartúa

Engineer Bereciartúa, who is the president of the Forum “Young people in Engineering and Business” of the World Congress and Exhibition: ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA anticipates details about the forum and mentions how to actively participate in it.

Question: What is the latest news about the forum you preside?

Pablo Bereciartúa: We have been working really hard and with a lot of enthusiasm for several months in order to carry out the activities included in the forum “Young people in Engineering and Business”. So far we can share the following news:
In the first place we have recently launched the forum webpage which can be accessed through the World Congress webpage (www.ingenieria2010.com.ar). The general schedule for activities to be held, which has recently been approved, is to be found there.
We have also launched a forum BLOG which can be accessed either through the Congress webpage or directly through the link: http://ingenieria2010jovenes.wordpress.com. We expect this instrument to be useful to get digital participation from all those who are interested in collaborating and taking part in the forum. Besides, we will be using the BLOG to anticipate and disseminate initiatives related with our forum. We kindly invite all of you to take part in it.
Also, we are making progress in the negotiations to establish strategic alliances which can allow us boost our FORUM’s activities. So far these include: the INNOVAR Program organized by the Argentine Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation; the Pre-Engineering Award regularly organized by CAI; and the Mondialogo Award organized by Daimer Company and sponsored by UNESCO.
Particularly, we have made important progress in establishing a strategic alliance with INNOVAR Program and we are analyzing the possibility of launching an innovation national award to be called “Engineering 2010- Argentina” which will reward Engineering Innovations with high social potential.

Question: How often and where does the Forum meet?

Pablo Bereciartúa: The Forum’s Organizing Commission meets every other Thursday at 6.00 p.m. at the Argentine Center of Engineers (CAI). The meetings are open so that anyone interested can take part.

Question: In what way can someone interested contribute? and what sort of participants is it aimed at?

Pablo Bereciartúa: The Forum is aimed at getting participation from students who are completing the last years of the engineering degree and young engineers and businessmen in the broadest sense of this expression. We have received many expressions of interest to participate and collaborate with the FORUM therefore our expectations increase in terms of the convening we will meet. Even though we have set the target of gathering around 2000 young people, we are starting to believe we may well exceed that figure.

Question: What universities are involved in the Forum?

Pablo Bereciartúa: We intend to involve all the universities related to engineering in the country, and also those abroad which show interest. We must not forget this is an international event and actually we have already received signs of interest from international institutions. At least six national universities specialized in different engineering disciplines and from different regions in the country are already represented in the organizing commission and among those who collaborate organizing the forum.
