The congress “Water: General Uses and Energy” was held at the National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA), in the city of Neuquén, last April 2009. It was a preparatory activity for the World Congress ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA. The event had the attendance of more than 180 people among whom were many professionals of the region and personalities of the public and private sectors.

The opening ceremony was in charge of the Vice-Governor Ana Pechen; the mayor of Neuquén, Martín Farizano; the President of the Center of Engineers of Neuquén (CIN), Mario Bayarsky; and the President of UADI and of the Central Executive Committee of ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA, Mario Telichevsky.

Dr. Homero Bibiloni, National Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development, was in charge of the closing ceremony, as a corollary of an event with lectures delivered by, among others, the Vice-President of the Organizing Committee of the Chapter “Energy and Climatic Change”, Engineer Julio García Velasco, and the representative of Neuquén in the Basins Inter-jurisdictional Authority (AIC), Mr. Elías Sapag.

The Congress, organized jointly by the Center of Engineers of Neuquén and the Argentine Union of Engineers (UADI), is part of a series of preparatory meetings which will be held along the next few months in several points of the country, within the frame of the World Engineering Congress and Exhibition ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA.
