On Tuesday 26, August 2008, President Cristina Fernández met authorities of the World Engineering Congress. The meeting took place in the Presidential Office of the Government House where the President received representatives of World Engineering Congress; among them were the president of such event, Engineer Mario Telichevsky, accompanied by Engineer Luis Di Benedetto, President of the Argentine Center of Engineers (CAI) and Ms. María Eva Argiz, CAI Executive Manager.

After the meeting, the representatives of the World Engineering Congress and Exhibition expressed: “We suggested it a year and a half ago in Chicago with the objective of getting the engineering world come to Argentina in the year of its bicentennial. It is an opportunity to make a launch of the country and to show the Argentine talent to the world”.

They thanked “the decision of the President of declaring this Congress an event of National Interest”, and they pointed out that “due to the development of investments in the country, nowadays engineers are scarce and we are in search of young people who may be interested in this profession since it is a question for the future of the country”.
