INTERVIEW TO ENGINEER MIGUEL ANGEL YADAROLA

Miguel Angel Yadarola, president of the National Advisory Council of the World Congress and Exhibition “ENGINEERING 2010 – ARGENTINA: Technology, Innovation and Production for Sustainable Development”, is a Civil Engineer, graduated from the National University of Cordoba. In recognition of his 40-year teaching experience, he was distinguished as Consulting Professor of this University. He is Plenary Professor at the University of Belgrano, Buenos Aires. He was member of the Advisory Ministerial Committee that prepared (1997-1998) the Evaluation and Accreditation Standards for all Argentine engineering curricula.

INTERVIEW TO ENGINEER ANTONIO FEDERICO

Engineer Antonio Federico, Chairman of the Chapter: “Megacities and their Infrastructure (MI)” of the World Congress and Exhibition: ENGINEERING 2010 – ARGENTINA: Technology, Innovation and Production for Sustainable Development”, is a Civil and Hydraulic Engineer, graduated from the National University of Cordoba (Argentina). He was General Director of Hydraulics of the Province of Santa Fe and President of the Provincial Water Services and founder of the College of Water Sciences, of the National University of the Litoral in Santa Fe. In the private sector, he has worked as executive manager of the boards of oil corporations, industrial and civil facilities, most of which working in temporary consortiums of national and international leading corporations. He was the General Administrator of Water and Sewage Services in Argentina, with jurisdiction all over the country. He was also founder and President of the National Institute of Water Science and Techniques, at present called “National Water Institute (in Spanish, INA). He co-ordinates the project “Freplata”, with the participation of the Global Environment Fund (GEF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He is a member of the Advisory Council of AIDIS: Inter-American Sanitary and Environmental Engineering Association. He is the President of the Technical Committee on Water Resources of the Argentine Center of Engineers (CAI).

INTERVIEW TO PROFESSOR DANIEL FAVRAT, HEAD OF WEC 2011 PROGRAM COMMITTEE

Daniel Favrat graduated from EPFL with a diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 1972 and a PhD in 1976. He then spent twelve years more in industrial energy research centers in Canada and in Switzerland. Since 1988, he has been a professor at EPFL and director of the Laboratory for industrial energy systems. Since 2001, he has also been successively director of the Institute of Energy Sciences and of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering. His primary fields of research and teaching include thermodynamics, the optimization of energy systems, and the design of advanced energy conversion technologies. He is a member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, of the French academy of technologies, and the Vice-chair of the Standing Energy Committee of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations. He is also a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals, including Energy and the International Journal of Thermodynamics.

Engineer Juan Carlos Giménez is President of the Water Subchapter of the Chapter “Large Metropolises and their Infrastructure (LMI)” of the World Congress and Exhibition ENGINEERING 2010 –ARGENTINA: “Technology, Innovation and Production for Sustainable Development”. He is a specialist in the planning of electrical and water systems. He was co-author in the topic of water resources of the Latin American region for the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report, UNEP-WMO Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, honored with the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
