Organizers

Argentine Federation of Associations of Engineers (UADI)

The Argentine Federation of Associations of Engineers (UADI) was formed by the initiative of members of the Argentine Center of Engineers who were concerned about bringing together the different existing centers into only one entity which could take over the national coordination and international representation of Argentine Engineering. This could be settled in 1935 with the joining of the Argentine Center of Engineers together with the Centers of Engineers of the Provinces of Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos, Santa Fé and Córdoba, and the Center of Engineers, Architects and Land Surveyors of Rosario.

Since it was formed and even before then, the management of UADI has made it a point of fostering the organization of international associations of engineering, starting by South America. That is how USAI (South American Union of Engineers Associations) was also born in 1935, and it was the first international federation of engineers constituted in the world. Later, in 1949, during the VI USAI Convention held in Rio de Janeiro, UPADI (Pan-American Union of Engineers) was created. Finally, in 1968, UPADI together with some European Engineers Associations supported the UNESCO initiative to create the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO/ FMOI) based in Paris and in which UPADI and UADI have performed key roles; one of those roles was that of the Argentine Engineer Conrado Bauer who was the President of FMOI between 1995 and 1999.

Currently UADI is formed by 26 centers and other engineering associations. It continues with the national spreading programs of technology and engineering as well as holding meetings and courses to enhance and update engineers’ education and to obtain their contribution to the development and discussion of technical issues of national and international interest.

Jointly with CAI and with the support of UNESCO, FMOI, UPADI and national institutions of engineering and the productive sector, UADI organizes the World Engineering Congress and Exhibition ENGINEERING 2010- ARGENTINA scheduled for October 2010 (WEW 2010).

Argentine Center of Engineers (CAI)

The Argentine Center of Engineers is a Non-profit Organization founded in 1895.

Its members are professionals from all the branches of engineering, land surveying and other related professions. It is also formed by institutions and companies interested in fostering a greater contribution of CAI to the national work. It constitutes a reference framework to any interdisciplinary activity that aims at boosting the country growth.

It currently has around 8000 members.

Its technical department consists of 20 committees in which around 200 specialized professionals participate. Each of the commissions is devoted to an area related to the activities inherent to engineering. Its work always based on ethical criteria, is to provide counseling and to make proposals, being the link between the CAI and the national and international private, public and non-government organizations.

The CAI also comprises the Technology Entrepreneurs Center (TECCENTRO) aimed at supporting the creation and implementation of new technologically based companies, the Arbitration Board of Engineering (TAI) that provides an alternative efficient method for conflict resolution in relation to the profession, and the Permanent Forum of Engineering, a space to generate short and long term analysis and proposals.
