With the encouragement that this international meeting implied, let us wish that the proposals agreed upon during those intensive working days will be carried out in 2011 and that the projects we imagine for a better society will come true.

Between October 17 and 20, engineering professionals from all over the world analyzed the most urgent topics in terms of engineering and favored a fruitful exchange of proposals to be carried out in the middle and long run.
The World Congress and Exhibition ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA, with the motto “Technology, Innovation and Production for Sustainable Development”, was organized by the Argentine Union of Associations of Engineers (UADI) and the Argentine Center of Engineers (CAI), with the sponsorship and participation of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) which represents more than 15 million professionals worldwide.
At the same time as celebrating the bicentenary of the Revolution of May, the key objective of the Congress was to update, analyze and spread the national and global situation of engineering and to put an emphasis on its internal cohesion, its driving force for progress and its interrelation with science, the productive enterprise and society in general.
BUENOS AIRES DECLARATION
We, the professionals at the World Congress “ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA: Technology, Innovation and Production for Sustainable Development”, organized by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) together with the Argentine Union of Associations of Engineers (UADI) and the Argentine Center of Engineers (CAI), consider that it is necessary to:

ENGINEERING 2010 – ARGENTINA:
“Technology, Innovation and Production for Sustainable Development”
1. Conclusions of the Congress and “Buenos Aires Declaration”.
2. Objectives of the World Congress and Exhibition.
3. Characteristics of the Organization and Operation.
4. Relevant Proposals and Issues Discussed in the Meetings of Chapters and Forums, and in the pre-congress Workshop.
5. Presence of the Recommendations of Brasilia 2008 and Kuwait 2009 and of the Topics for Geneva 2011.

The Forum “Young People in Engineering and Business” was held on Sunday, October 17, 2010, with the participation of more than 2,000 advanced students and young engineers from all the Argentine provinces and 17 countries.
There were lectures and panels on the three proposed topics: 1) innovation and entrepreneurial activity; 2) labor market for young engineers, and 3) future vision of engineering, with the presence of prominent keynote speakers from Argentina, Brazil, Holland, Sweden and Germany. There was also the presentation of the winning papers of the “call for papers”.
Within the structure of WFEO Committee on Engineering and Environment, a new task force on “Engineering and Agriculture” was created; its coordination is in charge of Dr.-Ing. Agr. Sandra Fernández, Former President of the Professional Council of Agricultural Engineers (CPIA) and President of UPADI Committee on Biotechnology (Argentina).
