YPF is Argentina’s market-leading company in hydrocarbons, with a production of 564 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2009. It operates, directly or in association, 91 production areas in Argentina, located in the basins called Neuquina, Gulf of San Jorge, Cuyana, Noroeste and Austral, all of which represent more than 40% of the total crude oil and gas of the country. It also has 16 onshore and offshore exploration blocks, totaling an area of more than 110,000 km². Proven net reserves in Argentina were estimated at 1,014 million barrels of oil equivalent at the end of 2009.      

YPF is also Argentina’s leading company in refining, through three refineries strategically located and linked to an efficient multipurpose pipeline network: La Plata (province of Buenos Aires), Luján de Cuyo (Mendoza) and Plaza Huincul (Neuquen). These refineries together have a total distillation capacity of about 333,000 barrels per day, more than 50% of Argentina’s total capacity, including the 50% share it has in Refinor. It is also worth pointing out its conversion capacity and complexity, one of the highest in South America. YPF owns a network of more than 1,600 service stations all over the country, a number that almost doubles its closer competitor. This means that the company has a market share of more than 50%, both in petrol and gasoil.
