Eng. Marie Helene Therre

Marie-Hélène THERRE, Civil Engineer, is a management and HR consultant, specialist in diversity in the organizations. Her main subject of interest focuses on the factors promoting diversity within groups and teams. Her main clients are international companies and networks of women in firms.
She has a significant professional experience as customer services operations manager in Europe South for an international supercomputer manufacturer, managing large teams of engineers and directing strategic projects.
She is president of the French Association of Women Engineers (www.femmes-ingenieurs.org) and she is the founder chairwoman of WFEO standing committee “Women in Engineering” (www.wfeo.net).
She is one of the keynote speakers who has already confirmed her participation in the Forum “Women in Engineering and Business”.

Eng. André Marie Bourlon

André-Marie Bourlon is an urban engineer (1954), graduated from "École Polytechnique" and "Ponts-et- Chaussées". He has an experience of more than twenty years in the management and relocation policies within the organization of APUR (Paris Urban Planning Agency). From his position in APUR, he has lead the projects of Paris’ candidacy for the 2008 and 2010 Olympic Games and has participated in the preparation of the relocation policy of the city of Paris. He has carried out and completed several large urban projects such as Bercy, Paris Rive Gauche and Paris Nord-Est. He has also worked on large restoration projects of public spaces and directed projects for the traffic of bicycles and vehicles in Paris.  
At the international level, he has managed many projects. He has also collaborated recently in the review of the master plans of Buenos Aires and Teheran, the improvement of Rio de Janeiro downtown and the tramway project in the city of Mexico. For the government of Morocco, he has carried out plans for the restoration of Rabat, Sale and Temara as well as the planning scheme and the urban management planning of Marrakech.
He is one of the keynote speakers who has already confirmed his participation in the Chapter “Professional Practice of Engineering”.

Eng. George Bugliarello

An engineer, educator, writer and thinker with a broad perspective and a deep concern about the world prospect, George Bugliarello has lectured and written on how humanity balances the biological, social and mechanized components of our modern existence and how a technological society achieves material prosperity while protecting human rights, the environment and the quality of our personal interaction. Bugliarello's background ranges from biomedical engineering to fluid mechanics, to computer languages and socio-technology. He is University Professor and president emeritus of Polytechnic University in New York. He holds a doctorate in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has received several honorary degrees. His service includes participation as the U.S. member of the Science for Stability Steering Group of the Scientific Affairs Division of NATO and chairmanship of the Board on Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment of the National Research Council. He has been a consultant for UNESCO and OECD and a specialist for the State Department in Venezuela and Central Africa. A member of the National Academy of Engineering and founding fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, Bugliarello served as president of Sigma Xi in 1992-93.

Dr. Tim Fox

Dr. Tim Fox is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Chartered Environmentalist and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.  He has a BSc in Civil Engineering and a PhD for research in fluid mechanics, an area in which he has published extensively. His wide range of engineering experience has been gained across many industrial sectors including the built environment, energy, chemical processing, aerospace, defence and transport and he has worked in commercial enterprises, government agencies and educational institutions in the UK, Australia, Canada and The Netherlands.  As Head of Energy and Environment at the IMechE, Dr. Fox’s role involves developing and communicating the Institution’s policies on energy, environment and sustainability issues, authoring thought-leadership reports and providing input to government policy making.  He regularly contributes as an expert to government and frequently appears in the national and international press and broadcast media. He is one of the keynote speakers who has already confirmed his participation in the Chapter “Energy and Climate Change”, with his address based on the latest IMechE report "Climate Change – Have We Lost The Battle?”.

Eng. Deepak Bhasin

Deepak Bhasin has more than 30 years of experience in the engineering-procurement-construction industry. Before joining the Center for Project Excellence, Mr. Bhasin was the managing director for the start-up and operations of CH2M HILL’s Global Engineering and Design Center in India. Before setting up India, Mr. Bhasin oversaw North and South American operations for the Energy & Chemicals business group, including the acquisition and integration of VECO into CH2M HILL. In his current position as Director of CH2M HILL’s Center for Project Excellence, Mr. Bhasin is responsible for developing and delivering the processes, tools, and systems across the firm to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and consistency in all the services provided by the firm. He is one of the keynote speakers who has already confirmed his participation in the Chapter “Engineering Professional Practice”.

Eng. Pradeep Chaturvedi

Pradeep Chaturvedi is Chairman of the Indian Association for the Advancement of Science; he is a Mechanical Engineer and an internationally-known Energy and Development Expert, who has been engaged in action oriented projects on sustainable development strategies, energy and environment policy and planning (particularly, climate change) for over three decades in India and other Asian and Pacific countries, all under the United Nations Programme. Mr. Chaturvedi has authored eight and edited thirty books on Energy and Environment Management. Mr. Chaturvedi received the World Food Day Award of UNFAO in 1992; Energy Pioneer Award of the World Renewable Energy Council in 2000; Commendation of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations in 2007; Eminent Engineer Award of the Institution of Engineers (India-DSC) in 2007; and the Rajiv Gandhi Shiromani Award of India International Friendship Society in 2007. He participated in the preparatory process of Major UN Environment and Development Conferences, such as Rio Conference 1992, Johannesburg Conference 2002, Bali Conference 2007 and Copenhagen Conference 2009. He is one of the keynote speakers who has already confirmed his participation in the Chapter “Megacities and their infrastructure”.

Dr. Eng. Willi Fuchs

Dr.-Ing. Willi Fuchs studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Siegen where he obtained his degree as Dr.-Ing. After lecturing at the University of Houston, Texas, until 1987 he was Head of the Department for Development and Quality Assurance at the Lemmerz Werke in Königswinter. He was a member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Qualität e.V. where he served as President from 1996 until 1998. He was President of the Accreditation Agency for Engineering, Computer Science Courses, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN). He was also President of the European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI), now being its honorary president. He is Executive Director and Executive member of the Board of VDI and publisher of VDI nachrichten. He is one of the keynote speakers who has already confirmed his participation in the Chapter “Engineering Education for Sustainable Development”.

Eng. Klaus Heidinger

Klaus Heidinger is the head of Siemens IT Solutions and Services Center of Competence for City Management at Siemens Pte Ltd in Singapore. He has a worldwide responsibility of developing innovative solutions and portfolios for Siemens in the public sector market.
He developed his experience in many leading industries and public-sector organizations. Before he started his career with Siemens in 2000, he was the managing director for an IT training centre in Austria where he succeeded in two projects within the European Union to develop a network of small- and medium enterprises together with transnational partners in Austria, Italy, Finland and Germany. He is one of the keynote speakers who has already confirmed his participation in the Chapter “Large Metropolises and their Infrastructure”.

Eng. Ugo Bilardo

Ugo Bilardo is a Civil Engineer and full professor of Oil and Gas Engineering at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Rome “La Sapienza. He has also developed researches in the field of “Reservoir Engineering”, specifically related to the planning, forecasting and implementation of “Energy Policy” processes; he has undertaken scientific researches in co-operation with universities and public institutions in Italy and abroad as well as with international Research Centers. He has also worked in several actions and programs of International Cooperation in Italy, Venezuela, Mozambique, Senegal, and Afghanistan. He is author of several articles and books on energy, oil and raw materials. He is one of the keynote speakers who has already confirmed his participation in the Chapter “Energy and Climate Change”.

Eng. Ulf Hakansson

Dr. Ulf Hakansson is Vice-President for Risk Management of Skanska AB – SET Risk Team (SRT), in Stockholm, Sweden, and advisor to the Senior Executive Team regarding operational risk assessment. He is in charge of running main projects of road and railway tunnels in Canada, USA, Brazil, Finland and strategic storage of crude oil in India, among others. He is adjunct Professor of Division of Soil and Rock Mechanics and has got a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and Rock Mechanics, both from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. He is one of the keynote speakers who has already confirmed his participation in the Chapter “Energy and Climate Change”.

Dr. Justo Nieto Nieto

Dr. Justo Nieto Nieto is a Mechanical Industrial Engineer. He was founder and Past-President of the Biomechanical Institute of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He also chaired the Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH), the Iberian Society of Biomechanics and the Spanish Federation of IFToMM (International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science). He worked in the academic area as Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia - BARCELONA TECH, and Full Professor at the University of Cantabria and the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He was the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Valencia for 18 years and Regional Minister of Enterprise, University and Science. Professor Justo Nieto Nieto will be a keynote speaker in the Chapter “Engineering Education for Sustainable Development” of the Congress ENGINEERING 2010 – ARGENTINA.

Dr. Michael Weinhold

As Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Michael Weinhold is heading the Technology and Innovation Staff Department at the Siemens Energy Sector. Dr. Weinhold completed his studies at the Ruhr-University Bochum with a Dr.-Ing. Degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1997, Mr. Weinhold won the “Siemens Inventor of the Year” award and, in 2008, he was promoted to the status of “Siemens TOP Innovator”. He is one of the keynote speakers who has already confirmed his participation in the Chapter “Energy and Climate Change, with his address "The New Electricity Age - Innovations towards a Sustainable Energy System".

Dr. Daniel Ramón Vidal

Dr. Daniel Ramón Vidal has a Bachelor’s Degree and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Valencia. At present, he is Professor of Food Technology at the University of Valencia and works in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Bromatology, Toxicology and Legal Medicine. He is also research scientist, currently on leave, at the Spanish Research Council (in Spanish, CSIC). He is author of more than one hundred articles of prestigious international journals and several chapters of international books. He was awarded with the 2nd European Science Communication Prize for the book "The Genes We Eat", and the 10th Prize for his career in science of Danone Institute. He is member of the Spanish National Biosafety Commission, the Spanish National Biomonitoring Commission, the Advisory Committee on Ethics in Scientific and Technological Research of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology and the Scientific Committee of the Club of Rome. He is an advisor of Biópolis S.L. Dr. Daniel Vidal will participate as keynote speaker in the Chapter “Innovation in Primary Production and Agro-Alimentary Industries - IPPAI” of the Congress ENGINEERING 2010 – ARGENTINA.

Prof. Gong Ke

Professor Gong Ke is a Doctor of Technological Sciences. In 2006, he was appointed as President of Tianjin University. At present, Professor Gong Ke also serves as Vice President of the Chinese Institute of Electronics and Vice President of the China Institute of Communications. In 2006, he was elected as a member of the standing committee of the China Association for Science and Technology. In November 2009, he was appointed as Chairman of WFEO Standing Committee on Information and Communication (CIC). Professor Gong Ke will deliver a keynote speech at the Chapter “Information and Communication Technologies” of ENGINEERING 2010 – ARGENTINA.

Prof. Dr. Ing. Rainer Hirschberg

Prof. Hirschberg is a mechanical engineer at Technical University Darmstadt. He works as consultant and specialist on building services. Since 1991, he has been a member of the Executive Board of the German Society of Engineers (VDI). In 2009, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merits in Germany. Prof. Rainer Hirschberg has been appointed to deliver a keynote speech at the Chapter “Energy and Climate Change” of ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA.

Dr. Tony Marjoram

Dr. Tony Marjoram is a Senior Programme Specialist and responsible for the Engineering Sciences Programme at the Basic and Engineering Science Division of the Science Sector of UNESCO. He has wide experience in engineering, science and technology policies, planning and management in the development context. He was a member of the UN Millennium Project Task Force on Science, Technology and Innovation. Dr. Tony Marjoram will give a keynote speech at the Chapter “Professional Practice of Engineering” of ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA.

Dr. Ishii Yumio

Dr. ISHII Yumio is member of the International Advisory Council of ENGINEERING 2010 – ARGENTINA and a specialist in Disaster Risk Management. He has been member of the Executive Committee of the International Federation
of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). He also chairs the recently created Standing Committee on Disaster Risk Management of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO). He is one of the keynote speakers who has already confirmed his participation in the Chapter “Large Metropolises and their Infrastructure”, Subchapter Water (LMI – Water).

Eng. Marcos Tulio De Melo

Engineer Marcos Tulio de Melo is President of CONFEA, the Federal Council of Engineering, Architecture and Agronomy, from Brazil, and has been recently reelected for the three-year period 2009-2011. He was President of the Board for the organization of the World Engineers’ Convention (WEC 2008) which took place in Brasilia in December, 2008. He is member of the International Advisory Council of ENGINEERING 2010 – ARGENTINA and he is one of the keynote speakers of the Chapter “Engineering Professional Practice” (EPP).

Dr. Enrique Iglesias

Dr. Enrique Iglesias is past president of the Inter-American Development Bank and current Ibero-American General Secretary, with headquarters in Spain.
He began his professional career in 1954 in the private sector as Director of the Union of Banks of Uruguay. In the academic field, he was professor of Economic Development and Director of the Institute of Economy belonging to the University of the Republic of Uruguay. He was member of the Board of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (in Spanish, CLACSO) and participated in several courses of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI), and the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES) of the United Nations. Enrique V. Iglesias was born in Asturias, Spain, and is a naturalized Uruguayan citizen.

Eng. Dato Lee Yee Cheong

Dato Lee Yee Cheong The worldwide known Eng. Dato Lee Yee Cheong is one of the already confirmed speakers for the Opening Ceremony of the World Congress and Exhibition: ENGINEERING 2010-ARGENTINA.

Dato Lee Yee Cheong has an impressive professional track record in international engineering institutions and has held positions of responsibility in the Malaysian government.
He has been president of the Commonwealth Engineers Council as well as of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO 2003-2005).
He has been representative of the World Engineering before the UN Commission for Sustainable Development, before the Organizing Commission of Johannesburg World Summit (2002) and as Co - Chair of the Chapter on: “Innovation: Applying knowledge for the development of the UN Millennium Project”.

Currently, he is a senior fellow of the Academy of Sciences, Malaysia and chairman of the Governing Board of ISTIC, Institute for Science, Technology and Innovation for south-south Cooperation sponsored by UNESCO, based in Malaysia.

El Dr. ISHII, Yumio es miembro del Consejo Asesor Internacional de INGENIERÍA 2010-ARGENTINA y experto en prevención de desastres. Ha sido miembro del Comité Ejecutivo de FIDIC, Federación Internacional de Ingenieros Consultores. Es además Presidente del recientemente creado Comité Permanente de Prevención de Desastres de la Federación Mundial de Organizaciones de Ingenieros (FMOI). Es uno de los oradores especiales confirmados para el Capítulo Grandes Metrópolis y sus Infraestructuras, subcapítulo Agua (GMI – Agua).
