Introduction

The aim of the Forum "Engineering, young professionals and the business world" is to convene the participation of engineering students and young professionals to discuss relevant issues related with the contribution of engineering in the development of our global society.

 

Forum Agenda:

Theme 1: Young Engineers Labor Market

  • Characteristics of the new generation of young people and young engineers in particular.
  • Characteristics of the labor market for young engineers. Differences between market and society’s requests and the offer of professional provided by academic institutions.
  • Engineers professional associations role in promoting engineering and developing the labor market for young engineers.
  • Contrast and Comparison with the reality of other professions, and with different regions and countries. Consequences of globalization.

 

Theme 2: Innovation and Entrepreneurship

  • Characteristic and relation of innovation in developing and developed countries.
  • New opportunities and challenges of technology in the creation of technology-based businesses.
  • Engineering entrepreneurial experiences in Argentina and the world.
  • Organizations and programs related to the promotion of local, regional and global innovation. Consequences of cultural and technological globalization.

 

Theme 3: Vision of the Future of Engineering

  • What is the vision of engineering students, young professional and business men about the future of their profession?
  • Which are the main technology-based challenges that the new generation will face?
  • Evaluation of potential engineering development impact in society’s welfare.
  • Characteristics of different visions for local, regional and global scenarios. Consequences of globalization.

 

Activities

The forum includes the following activities:

1. The presentation of research and development papers about the forum main themes.
2. A contest about Engineering, Innovation and Social Development.
3. Oral Presentations from Keynote Speakers and a Round Table with national and international personalities expressing their ideas about the forum main topics.
4. The organization of a special artistic show at the end of the forum
